Maybe you grew up hearing things like “think positive,” “échale ganas,” or “ponte las pilas.” And while our families often meant well, a lot of us learned to keep our feelings quiet and call it being strong. Therapy was not really part of the conversation. We get it because many of us have lived it too.
That’s why at Desert Insight, we try to make therapy feel less intimidating and easier to start, right here in Coachella Valley, especially if you never thought it was for you.
Whether you are navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, family pressure, relationship struggles, or simply wanting to take a first step towards healing, our therapists in Coachella Valley are here to support you.

We’re More Than Therapists.
We’re Your Neighbors.
Desert Insight was founded in 2020 right here in Coachella Valley by people who know this community, love this community, and are part of this community.
We serve everyday people across Palm Springs, Palm Desert, Indio, Cathedral City, La Quinta, Rancho Mirage, and throughout Riverside County: parents, students, blue-collar workers, your tíos and tías. People who have spent years pushing through things, believing what they are experiencing is “just life”.
We offer in-person and online therapy in English, Spanish, and Spanglish in Coachella Valley, plus virtual care throughout California. In many cases, your insurance may cover the full cost, including plans like IEHP, Medi-Cal, and others accepted at our Indio and Cathedral City offices.
We accept IEHP, Medi-Cal, Aetna, Kaiser, Cigna, and Lyra.

Why We’re Different
We Are Our Community
We’re not outsiders looking in. A lot of us come from the same backgrounds as our clients. Our therapists speak English, Spanish, and Spanglish. Many of us have a real understanding and seek to create a safe space where you feel seen.
As a team rooted in the Hispanic and Latino community, we offer culturally sensitive therapy that honors your language, your familia, and where you come from.
Focus on Change We Can Feel
We prioritize a focused, results-driven approach to therapy, targeting and tracking symptoms with evidence-based methods like EMDR for trauma.
We believe therapy should have a purpose and a path forward, so you leave not just feeling better, but carrying the tools to stay well, live fully, and be your best self.
Making Therapy Accessible
We accept insurance (including Kaiser, IEHP, Medi-Cal, and many major plans), offer in-person therapy in Cathedral City and Indio, or telehealth from anywhere in California, and help match you with a therapist who fits your unique needs.
We’ll contact you and take care of verifying insurance and explaining costs, no back-and-forth on your end.

Why Choose Desert Insights…
If any of this sounds familiar, you are not alone. These are some of the most common reasons people across Coachella Valley, including many in our Hispanic and Latino community, reach out for support.
Overthinking & preparing for the worst
When your mind keeps running through “what if” scenarios and tries to plan for everything that could go wrong, even when nothing has happened yet.
Angry for "no reason"
Feeling irritated or quick to anger without a clear reason, often because something deeper inside hasn’t had space to be processed.
Lonely even with support
Being surrounded by people who care about you, but still feeling unseen, disconnected, or like no one truly understands you.
Stuck, confused or indecisive
Feeling frozen when trying to make decisions, second guessing yourself, or not knowing what direction to take in life.
Anxious or sad most days
Carrying a steady sense of worry, heaviness, or low mood that shows up more days than not and starts to impact daily life.
Insecurities & low self esteem
Struggling to feel confident in who you are, often being hard on yourself or feeling like you are not enough.
Relational Conflict
Experiencing repeated tension, miscommunication, or emotional distance in your relationships, even when you care deeply about the people involved.
Trouble expressing yourself
Finding it hard to put your thoughts or feelings into words, or feeling misunderstood when you try to communicate.
Panic attacks that feel like a "heart attack"
Sudden waves of intense fear or discomfort that can include a racing heart, shortness of breath, or chest tightness, and can feel physically overwhelming even though the doctor has told you don't have heart problems.

The Heart Behind Desert Insight
Carolina Vasquez, LMFT, is the Founder, Executive Director, and Mental Health Expert behind Desert Insight. Born in Mexicali, Mexico, she came to the U.S. at 11 with no money and no English. Her father worked the fields of Southern California while her mother raised four daughters in a culture still new to her. Her parents could not pay for college, but they believed in Carolina so completely that she had no choice but to believe in herself. She worked full-time throughout, and once she earned her clinical license, she took a leap of faith and opened Desert Insight in 2020, right here in the Coachella Valley.
It began as a party of one, with a waiting room that still needed a door. Her dad came to install it and asked for nothing in return but a bottle of Coke and some snacks. Two months later, he tested positive for COVID and passed away shortly after. That door became more than part of an office. It became part of the story. Behind it stood the daughter of immigrants who gave everything so their girls could have more. In front of it stood a community that needed care, access, and therapists who understood them.
Within months, Carolina was fully booked with a growing waitlist. Recognizing the need for insurance-based mental health care in the Valley, she expanded Desert Insight into a group practice in 2021. For Carolina, serving the community that shaped her is the greatest honor. This practice is how she honors her family's sacrifices while creating a place where others can find their voice, their purpose, and the truth that they have always been worthy.

Our Goal is Not to Keep You in Therapy Forever
At Desert Insight, we start therapy with the goal of ending therapy.
That means we focus on real progress you can feel in your everyday life: healthier relationships, better boundaries, more confidence, and more connection to yourself.
The goal is for you to leave with tools that stay with you long after therapy ends. We’ve helped hundreds of Coachella Valley families, couples, and individuals do exactly that, and we’re in the business of being better together.
